I tried searching for more info on this card (Gainward BLISS 8800GT 512MB) and wasn't really able to find out exactly what I wanted. From the reviews I read, it would seem it clocks really well, however it would seem that people have had somewhat mixed experiences - suggesting that it's a bit "luck of the draw".

I noticed it seems to be less demanded that the other 8800GTs (since it seems to stay in stock longer) Anyone got this model or know if it's any good compared to any of it's rivals? Would it be a not-so-smart buy?

Cheers.

Its the luck of the draw if you get a really good clocking card or not, most peps on here seem to get good clocks on the majority of GT's including the gainward, all the the different branded GT's should be indenticle to eachother.

Thanks guys, that's basically confirmed what I thought.

People seem to big up BFG, eVGA and XFX though. I'm not fussed about a massive warranty. I'll thing I'll go ahead and buy the Gainward.

i went for the gainward - fantastic

overclocks well, runs cool, was reasonably priced and most importantly

is in stock

read that gainward was the nvidia production partner for europe and they produce most to the 8800gt in europe. dont know how true that is though but very pleased

got mine just after release day in november

They are all the same, the gainward was available so I got that. Great card nothing wrong with it albeit a bit too simplistic (hardly any extras like cables and software) it clocked to about 680/1700 before the bios mod to add the extra 0.5V. Now it's doing 700/1750 only reason for not going any higher is that I actually have less performance at anything higher than 700Mhz core. At the price that OC is selling I wouldn't get it though.

Lol almost same as me, my Gainward 8800GT only hit 680/1750/1000 max, after bios mod it does 700/1800/1000 max.

I can do 3DMark with 740core tho.

Was a time, not so long ago, 2years maybe, when Gainward had a good reputation for producing cards with faster, better quality memory, the 6600gt GLH (goes like hell) was a card I had and its still going strong in my sons computer. Don't know if they still do special cards now.

Sadly gainward cards now are generally just reference designs :(

I was a big fan of some of their glh/golden sample cards.
