Gainward BLISS GeForce 7800 GS+ 512MB GDDR3 (AGP)

Having read a few threads about this card, there's lot of people who seem to be 'um'ing and r'ing' about getting Geforce 7800GS or GS+ to boost AGP set up to see them through to mid next year or later. Yes the X1950 is slightly faster + much better value so i'd never suggest anyone gets the 7800GS+ over an X1950 going by current prices. However just to give people an idea of the 7800GS+ 24pipe versions grunt; decided to update this thread with the stats from my old AGP PC thats since been replaced. :)

Test system:

-Athlon 939 4000+
-MSI K8N Neo Plat
-2GB G.Skill PC3200 ZX
-Gainward 7800GS+ (24 pipe version)
-Western Digital 80gb SATA 150 HD
-Seasonic 500W PSU

7800GS+ at stock results:

-3Dmark05 Standard settings 1024x768 32bit score: 8625
-3DMark06 Standard settings 1280x1024 32bit score: 4602
-Company of Heroes 1600x1200 max detail: Ave 36.7fps, Max 85.5fps
-Counterstrike Source 1600x1200 max detail: 112.43fps
-Fear 1600x1200 max detail: Average 48fps

7800GS+ overclocked (Core 550MHz/Mem 1400MHz):

-Company of Heroes 1600x1200 max detail: Ave 44.7fps, Max 106.2fps
-Counterstrike Source 1600x1200 max detail: 133.46fps

Edit:

Below 3DMark03/05/06 results (thumbnail clicky pic) using same PC with dual core 4800+ CPU (o/c to 2.95)

Yeah sorry forgot to say the drivers used which are 84.21 forceware winxp2k. Mainly coz latest Nvidia drivers seem a little dodgy both on my system and brothers so we opted to stick with older set for now. ;)

I dont have that game yet no, but done more tests with rez levels im sure the majority use instead of the above average one's i tested certain games with and added to main post^ ;) I took gamble buying the card after my bro gave me some cash for the 6800ultra and pleased to say it was worth while, deffo will see me through till late next year when its time to do a compleate system overhaul.

Added couple more test results for anyone who cares to peruse over since ive found the limits of the cards overclocking potential and yet still be stable. Check main thread post at bottom. :)

Drivers i use with my GS+ are the 93.71's and i get over 8k on 05 and i have a lesser CPU and lower clocks.

Read the date of post, the 3dmark scores are old; as in 6 months old from when i first got the card using 84.21  the bit thats says 'Edit info' is new upto date stuff using 93.71's.

could you post the final scores of those test at the standard res i.e. 1024x for 03 in an easier to compare format?

Do you want blood to go with that  the format up top is simple enough to compare fps between the two cards is it not, regardless of total score missing? I cant be botherd to re-instal 3dmark - so game bench marks is the best you can ask for sorry. ;)

Updated main post in this thread with details regarding best scores i managed using the 7800GS+ (just to be helpfull to AGP users :) ), ive recently moved on from AGP to PCI-E. ;)

Most expensive card I've ever bought yet it was the shortest time I've ever kept a graphics card was the GS+, 4 months, flogged it on ebay 3 months ago and was able to buy two PCI-E 7900gs's and still had change to buy two zalman vf900's and clock the buggers up to 600. :D

Heh same as me then, got silly money for it on auction site which paid for new mobo + 8800GTS 640 :) As for the AGP 8600 rumor; well ive seen some press rumors now saying that could be a load of bull sadly. :(
