hi guys my friend is thinking of buying two of these from this site he is using at present two 6600gt 256 mb cards

in sli mode
dfi expert board
4400+ chip silmar set up to mine


are these worth the money or can he get anything better with his budget of
£500

I'd be tempted with a top of the range single card solution (like the X1900 XT-X 512).

I'd then pocket the change. He's then got scope for adding another crossfire card in the future so there's an easy upgrade path.

I'm currently running two of them, and whilst awesome, unless he wants to mess around with SLI as an interest in the technology, i'd advise him to get a single faster card like an X1900XT or a 7900GT/X.

For £500 smackers you can get a XFX 7900 GTX 512mb XXX - and those suckers come clocked at 700mhz

you can't run crossfire cards on a sli mobo!

my friend has just gone and ordered one of these
dam if i hadnt bought my cards would be buying but cant see selling mine cards for much now

My mistake, I didn't see what motherboard he had and for some reason assumed he'd be getting a new one!

Why do the coolers on the 7900gt look a bit...well... bodged? They look awful. I would have to get some cooling on that RAM imediately.
