Gainward X1950 Pro

Nividia have lost Gainward then, looks a cracker that, although it seems odd for them to start doing x1950pro's when the 320mb 8800 GTS is supposedly coming out on the 12th for around the £200 mark, can't see many ppl wanting an old gen Dx9 card then, as surely this will only be a few quid less, cheapest x1950pro is the Connect3D one at £117, and the rest go up to £180, so if this comes in about £150 or so, in fact i doubt that now as its an overclcoked 'Golden Sample' with 512mb so its gona be pretty steep, so you may as well get the GTS for the extra as it decimates the pro, mind you depends what the 320mb GTS comes out at i suppose.

Welcome to the forums btw. :)

I was looking at just going all in and buying a 8800GTX, skipping over the cost all together however common sense just tells me it's a complete waste. I don't intend on buying Vista within the next 2 years (should give MS time to sort it out). I don't play games at res over 1200x1024 so everything points to the 1950pro as being a card that will do just what I need.

I am waiting to see what the next batch of 8800s is capable of and theirs some rumours floating around about weather or not DX10 really needs Vista to run. So I'll be holding off for at least another month just to see what happens. If all else fails and this card doesn't appear for sale and the new 8800s aren't as good as the pre-release fluff seems to suggest then I'll just go with the HIS1950pro that's the card I chose when I first considered upgrading.

You can only use Dx10 in Vista, and you wont have long to wait for the next lot of 8800's as the 320mb GTS is coming the 12th (Week on Wednesday), and is supposedly around the £200 mark. :)
