Hi,
Just wondering if you guys will ever be getting any low profile 9600 gt cards in few about but very few people actually sell them.

Galaxy 9600GT Green Edition (low profile low power)

That card looks like a perfect choice for me as I have a matx case that doesnt have the width for full height cards I know many are in my boat.

I think Zotac do one aswell but again seems to be hard to track down.

Anyway would love to know if you guys will ever be getting some in ?

Cheers,
Mike

You've gotta wonder how they get all the components on the card as its so much smaller (what, almost 1/2) than a normal 8800/9800GT. And if its that easy, wtf do manufacturers make them so damn big! (ok cheaper to make probably, but damn pain!)

Well, one thing against the low profile cards is that none of these seem to be able to exhaust hot air through the back of the case as some double-slot full-size cards. This can be an important drawback in a case with insufficient airflow.

betaspin - i was refering to length as well. That being the main problem with the 8800 series and after from nvidia. They are just too damn long! I'll have to sell my trusty 8800GTX to get it in anything 1/2 small. Its not easy to get it in my PC7..

Guardsmon, you are right about length---anything above the GTS 250 (in 55nm) is way too long, indeed. Well, NVidia may decide to shrink existing designs once again, as they did with the GTS 250 which lost an inch in the 65nm -> 55nm transition. If this happens, we could see a 40nm 9.5" GTX 260 or even GTX 275. On the other hand, the available GT300 information http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2009/4/22/nvidias-gt300-specifications-revealed---its-a-cgpu!.aspx suggests a radical change in the GPU design in the new 40nm chips, which could make any speculation about the sizes of future NVidia cards pointless.
