Galaxy s2 home network connection

Hi guys, I'm looking to purchase a Galaxy s2 soon but I was wondering if connecting it to my home network would allow me to browse the internet/use Skype for free/without using internet allowance included with the contract.

Yup, it uses your home internet package instead of your mobile net. It does for all smart phones. Though I find it drains the battery faster over time.
