Bought my daughter this phone for xmas & it automatically keeps connecting to my BT hub but i cant find anything in the settings to stop it connecting, any ideas?

Thx in advance Shotgun

Tap on it, click "Forget network". There may also be an "Automatically connect" option in there, which if disabled, will stop it from connecting but it will remember the network settings.

Otherwise, there may be an extra setting that Samsung have added to automatically connect to open networks? If you press the menu button while in Wi-Fi settings, tap Advanced, and you'll see more options there.

Can't guarantee that all these settings will be there as I don't have a TW device. Just possibilities, but it should be one of these :)

Cant forget network because then the password will haved to be typed everytime she wants to go on the network, & theres nothing in settings to auto connect to network that i can find???

just turn wifi off and on when you need it

when wifi is on and phone finds a network that it has saved it will automatically connect to it :)

and when wifi is off it will not connect to it yet it will keep the password saved.

We have 2 Notes & 3 S2 in the house & theres only 1 that is auto connecting???

the "quick settings" panel in the status bar has a wifi button if that is off it will not connect(it turns wifi off)

so either your daughters s2 has wifi on all the time and connects as soon as it sees the bt hub in range or your note/other s2's have wifi off and only on when in use

That's not what you've been saying though, you've just been saying it auto connects to a network, which is how it should act when wifi is on.

If the notification panel toggle doesn't turn wifi off try and turn if off manually in settings and see if it turns itself back on then.

Have you tried turning the phone off and on again / pull the battery?

I'm intrigued, why would you not want your phones to be connected constantly? I can't think of one.

The only reason I can think of is wanting the best battery life, which would mean disabling both wifi and data (since wifi will use less power than data when idle) and only enabling then when required.

The actual problem seems to be not being able to turn wifi off at all, not that it's auto connecting though. Which means that when she's not in range of a known wifi network it's constantly looking for wifi.
