Hi all,
so just rolled out 70 S5's to our business. When connected to Exchange they adopt the security policy of requiring a pincode to unlock the phone.
7 incorrect pincode entries results in wiping the device.

So far i've had about 6 people bring their phones back for me to reset them up.
What seems to be happening is when they receive a text or email the screen lights up awaiting for pincode entry. If the phone is in their pocket etc then it looks like contact pressure is registering a digit for the pincode. Now the chance of someones nuts entering the pincode correctly whilst its in their pocket are pretty infinitesimal.
So 7 failed attempts later without the user even knowing and the phone wipes itself and has to be brought back to me.

What i did is go into settings > sounds and notifications > Notification > While Locked > "Do not show notifications".

Is this a guaranteed workaround? No doubt some will swear they set this up, yet still come back with a wiped phone.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Oh...i also have Cerberus installed on them all and i get a picture email whenever an incorrect pincode is input 3 times in a row. I often do get blank pics as if its in a pocket or somewhere completely dark.
Which lends weight to my theory of what's happening. Otherwise i'd get a pic of the ugly mug of some moron who couldn't remember a 4-digit pincode staring at me.

Are they enabling glove mode? it ups the digitiser sensitivity quite a bit :( What you're setting is correct but you could also tell them to turn the phone screen-out in their pocket i guess ;) That's quite an interesting setup - did you not get a cheap/free MDM solution from your network? That would have been a ton cheaper normally and a lot easier on yourself for management typically.

I use Meraki Systems Manager to manage IOS and Android, but it doesn't push activesync to android sadly. Only apps.
Plus, even getting the user to put the correct pin/password in seems mission impossible sometimes.
I gave them all clear instructions on how to setup their google account using their company email address.
You woulnd't believe how many eejits used their own email address or actually setup a gmail Id tagged onto their own google account.

you can't fix dumb........just  and shout at them! :p
