Bought a 4 pack of smart tag 2s as I forget/lose everything but mainly wanted to get one so if dog every gets lost I can find him easier.

Well 1 week on and the battery is flat in one tag. 5 days "low battery". 12 hours later "dead".

Seen a few people say this. This tag wasn't working properly from the get go. Failed to update tag location for 8 hours despite being meters away from my phone.

Not impressed
Wouldn't recommend it to

Return it for a replacement? Everyone I know that had them have had no issues, mine still going strong a year on too. Not as good as AirTag’s but still very good.

I have a question about these.. Surely they can't track your dog unless he's within Bluetooth range of a device that also uses a Samsung network and has Bluetooth enabled.
Wouldn't this be useless in say the woods?

As they are registered on the Samsung network, they can be tracked anywhere in the world with a signal, you don't need to be within Bluetooth range of the tag.

But surely that would require them to have cellular functionality to contact a cell tower. Would that not also require weekly constant charging? I've never seen one like that.

You don't but it needs to be in range of someone with a device that can pick it up and update it's location.

Exactly, so unless someone is part of the Samsung network of nodes (aka bluetooth devices) it will not work. So being in the woods would be useless.

It's not a true gps device.

Well. These aren't suitable for my dog.

I've now tried 2 and they randomly beep. They report battery low randomly (not sure if it's the cold, it's only 10c outside.) even though they should last months.

The beeping disturbs him

The random beep isn't the button press beep. And there's no way to disable it.

Going to return the lot as this was the main reason to buy them.

Have to say the apple version is much better. Annoyed can't use it with my android

No, it's not GPs it's wide band bluetooth.

Sucks there isn't a coop between Google and Apple to share. Because this would double the coverage.

Might be worth looking into the Eufy tags.

So I've now tried every solution and I'm getting rid.

All the tags work OK.. Except on the dog.

It beeps all the time randomly. And it definitely isn't the button being pressed.

Why oh why didn't Samsung just have an option to disable all Sound.

The whole lot are useless as I don't want to have some of these and some of another brand.

I rarely buy brand new products.. Now I remember why!

You might have got a faulty batch. Return them all for a full replacement.

Well. These aren't suitable for my dog.

Return them for a full refund then ask your dog which ones they prefer for a replacement.

Its really strange. I cannot replicate the issue.
I've tried everything but it only beeps when he wears it.

Ive shaken it.
Moved it close and away from phone.
Pushed the button in every way I can think of

That's the weird thing. It only makes it when he's wearing it.

Just gonna ask for a refund. As don't want to be thing back and forth with it.

Battery can last over 500 days I believe. I have the first gen tag which is something like 365 days. Had mine for 7 months and the battery status is green and reports as "sufficient“.

You miss understand my point, which was relevant to the conversation above. These tags do not work unless within range of a phone, anyone's phone but a phone none the less, they cannot work for 500 days using GPS

Ah yeah sorry yep it only works with Samsung galaxy users/devices (known as "find nodes" ). The tag just uses Bluetooth low energy. If the device is outside of your phone’s range, then other nearby Samsung Galaxy users who have opted into SmartThings Find can help locate it.

So I have figured both black tags are duff and both white tags are fine.
There have been a fair few who've said the same. Must be a bad batch in the early lot.

Yeah it's that wide band bluetooth.

Its about time apple and Google paired up on this one. That would Truely be an amazing system.

This is quite possibly the worst product I have ever bought.
After a firmware update I thought the issue I had might be fixed.

Now all tags are showing errors. I cannot remove them from smart things. I can't add them.
I get this message which I cannot find any reference to on the Internet.
