Ive been in talks with a gallery for several months and its got to the point of signing the contract. In short allowing them to run a series for a set period. I have no experience of this type of thing, is there anything I should be looking out for? I was thinking of letting our solicitor give it the once over, although the gallery is in the Netherlands so their laws would apply I guess, and so our solicitor would have little knowledge of this, unless Iam wrong.

So any advice would be gratefully recieved.

I've never done it before but off my head, I would look out for factors such as:-

Copyright
Licencing, in duration, quantity, avenue and costs
Length of display period, minimum and maximum
Their percentage cut/commission fee in any given sale
Their percentage cut/commission fee in an potential work that is generated from it Through clients contacting through the gallery
Where your work will be displayed and will it get moved?
How many pieces will it get displayed

I would suggest seeking advice from a legal advisor who is able to advise on this type of contract, between two countries and their relevant laws. Or at least someone who's good with contracts.
