Hi everyone,

I have been asked to build a website for a local company, I went to school with the owners son and he knows I like my PC's however web development is something I have never really tinkered with.

I have spent the last few days reading up on HTML and CSS, next is PHP.

The company wants a website to show of the companies many products so I was thinking a nice gallery program would do the job. However, it has been mentioned that in the future he would like people to be able to order online and for it to send an email of the order to him. They then send out the order and invoice later on.

So I am stuck, do I look for a free gallery solution and try to develop the ordering side later on, try to use a free e-commerce application (although the ones I have looked at seem far too complicated and unsupported) or do I just jump in feet first and try to develop a gallery from the ground up and then add in ordering support later on.

I figure the gallery option would be the easiest to start with, but I am unsure about implementing the ordering system around someone elses code. I would love to jump in however knowing nothing about PHP means the whole thing is rather daunting.

Any advice or suggestions? Any of you run galleries at the moment?
