I read these boards a lot and am constantly baffled by the game abbreviations people use. I'm a long-term gamer and have played most things out there but I sometimes can't figure out for the life of me what games people are referring to: 'FGoT3 is the best games ever!'... That kind of thing.

Anyhoo, anyone want to help compile a list of these for morons like myself (If you haven't guessed, I'm bored)?

Here's a few for people to figure out to get the ball rolling:

RotH
SaMHtR
SC2:TUQM
JA2
BO:LoK
SWotL
HoMM3
SWoS
FFE

There are some very old one's in there just to confuse you :p

I know 95% of the abbreviations there and could guess the rest...

TDU
DnD
AC
WoW
DNF (won't need this one anytime soon)
WAR

Are ones that spring to mind...

Hmm let me try :)

SWoS = Sensible World of Soccer?
RotH = Realms of the Haunting
FFE = Frontier: First Encounters
TDU = Test Drive Unlimited
WoW = World of Warcraft
DNF = Duke Nukem Forever

Those 3 of mine are right on. Well done.

I'm completely stuck on WAR and would've been on TDU. The others ring true with the MMoRPG theme though ;)

I know TDU and WoW, but I haven't got the foggiest what any of the others are... :p

Oh, and just got Duke Nukem Forever. :cool:

Warhammer Age of Reckoning
Company of Heroes
Command and Conquer
Half Life
Unreal Tournament 2004 (obvious one)

Those are all pretty easy because they're all well known games

CoH (could be one of two games ;) )

Could be Company of Heroes a rather excellent WW2 RTS game or City of Heroes a quite good Superhero MMO (though I enjoy CO more). However City of Heroes is normally CoX these days to cover the fact that it is really CoH and CoV all in one.

To be honest you can make up an abbreviation for nigh on any multi-worded game.

CoD4
LFD
LFD2
TF2
HL2
BF2
TR
CoH (City of Heroes rather than Company - depends on which crowd you are talking to)
NN
BG2

etc.

Most people who play games will get them - especially if it's popular - there are absolutely thousands out there.
