Game and chat through same headset.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to game with a headset on like the Logitech 7.1 set and chat using Skype through the same headset at the same time?

Skype is in my opinion very much superior to Steams comms system or Ventrillo etc

Yes it is. Just set up your Skype conversation first and go into game.

I haven't used skype in quite awhile (so might be different now) and it depends on the game you play too but we always found that due to the p2p nature of skype back in the day that more than 2-3 people on and any latency sensitive games start lagging too much due to the level of upstream traffic.

Mumble is supposed to have better quality than most voip systems - tho we've found some people have severe feedback issues with it. TeamSpeak 3 is also pretty decent even on the default codecs and you can massively increase the quality if you need - both are better than steam/most ingame comms and ventrillo from my experience.

I only play games with friends now, so I use Skype most of the time whilst playing. Works fine, no latency issues.
