I guess this might be a difficult one to answer, but what does game such as pheasant and partridge taste like?
Is it an acquired taste?
Going out for a meal tomorrow (just a Chef & Brewer pub) but they do some Game dishes of venison, pheasant and partridge.
I've had venison and liked it but not had the others. Closest I guess is duck, which I do like.

I could just risk it, but bit embarrassing if I don't like it with the other guests around!

Between a duck and chicken really. Pheasant can some time be hung a little longer but it is never particularly strong.

Venison has the strongest flavour of those so if you want something interesting I'd go for that. Pheasant and partridge are unlikely to taste massively different to things you are used to and I'd be a bit concerned about how likely they are to be overcooked unless I really trusted the place I ordered from.
