So recently i changed out my ram for a Corsair kit, overclocked my 920 to 3.6ghz and did a lot of stress testing, all the tests in Prime 95 : small fft, large fft, custom blend test with 90% ram, all passed over 20+ hours each.
But i played some L4D2 for a while and at one point it closed to desktop with no error, so i sort of ignored this because lots of other people get that issue and it also happened on my laptop, fairly rare, but happens.
Went to start the game again and this time it wouldn't maximize, it just stayed on the taskbar. So i just logged out of windows, logged back in, started fine. Game ran ok again except that i noticed one of the players names at the bottom of the screen was blank, nothing there at all, then it happened to another player, but the last one was visible like normal, but i could still see them properly if i held the tab button. Stayed the same after level loads as well, so again i exited the game and went back in and it was back to normal. Don't think i've ever had that one before though.
Since then the game's been running fine and played it for quite a few hours without issues yesterday and today, but i'm wondering what caused the odd issues, could it be heat? Something else? Or just the game? Today i set my ram's command rate back to it's rated 2T from 1T anyway just in case.
Can overclocking cause any weird things like the names disappearing like that? I'm not exactly sure how i'm supposed to pinpoint issues like that because i have no clue if it could be my graphics card, game, or rest of the system.
