Im a bit stuck on what i should get, i have played and completed gow, amped, and almost completed commended + rainbow six so ive decided on something new out of either:

Lost Planet
Crackdown
Viva Pinata

Can anyone sell me these games ? (i know crackdown's not out yet but is it worth pre-ordering?)

Crackdown and Lost Planet - Just another 3rd person, just like kameo, just like just cause, just like dead rising, just like GRAW, just like gears of war, just like ninety nine nights and so on.

Lost planet is nothing special at all in my opinion, game play is extremely generic .

Crackdown i can't comment on, but it looks good, although it is another 3rd person for the 360.

And viva pinata looks pretty good, not played it myself but if i had a choice out of the 3, it would be viva pinata simply because it's something a little different.

dead rising, top class game

ghost recon advanced war fighter, if you liked rainbow6 you might like ghost recon - made and designed by the same dude, multiplayer is awsome.

tony hawks 8 is also good

i own these games and am talking from experiance, just for refernce

I'm a big fan of Viva Pinata, although I mainly got it for my girlfriend, but it's a game that does need a bit of patience to get through. Pinatas fighting when you're trying to get Master Romancer has the habit of making the air turn blue in my house.

I've only played the demo of Lost Planet and it seemed pretty decent and Crackdown looks pretty fun from the short video that was released so it's a bit of a toss-up between the lot I'd think. I'd say get Oblivion, I've just gone back to playing it for the first time in months and I've put in about 15 hours just being off work yesterday and today without noticing the time fly past.

I need a game with substance really, something that could keep me hooked, how long does Viva Pinata's game-play really last for? - reviews seem to have conflicting ideas

Never been a fan of skateboarding :p and GRAW seems a bit similar to Rainbow six for my liking and i own oblivion on the pc :D

Lost planet online demo i loved and played loads, but i hated the single player demo

dead rising is a lot more more original than those games your comparing it to as in it requires a lot more thought and gives you many many more choices on how to play. Wouldn't say its "just another 3rd person" game at all.

you sound like you want something that you cant just pick up and be good at e.g. it requires a certain amount of learning. Dead or Alive 4. There are whole forums (doacentral.com for example) dedicated to gameplay strategy and tips. Oncer you get the basics mastered (after a rather steep initial learning curve) this is defo a game that will keep you hooked for a long time. The online aspect is strong still aswell (even though itb was released very early on).

Overall, there is a lot more going on in this game than meets the eye (crushes, counters, blocks, escaping,throws,cancelling...... For instance its alwasy very easy to spot noobs as they button mash.

Don't get me wrong Dead Rising is amazing and as soon as i get the money i'll be getting it. But without all the zombies and the ability to pick up different objects as weapons, you can't deny it's that it's just another 3rd person.

How do you button mash on DOA!!!!!

I find it impossible to mash, the character does nothing if you do lol >.<

Its not just the objects and zombies im talking about. Its the freedom you have - you can play the game exactly how you choose. There are no set routes or methods in which to play, or any set order in which to play them. The game is designed so you your not trapped in doing level X first , you can run around killing everything and everyone and still get and ending, there are other ways of course ;)

Theres also the strategic element - e.g. what level your character is, what weapons your carrying (are they close to breaking?), what health you have, what time of the day it is, the best route to escort survivors, do you answer scoops or stick to the case files....so much is going on at once.

There are also three games types, with infinity mode challenging even the hardcore gamers (look how many people have the infinity mode achievements on top360tag, less than 80 worldwide).

DR is one of the freshest games i have played for quite a while.

Exactly, thats the idea and how all fighter games should be. In DOA4 you really need to pick your best character, learn all theior moves via sparring, read up on theior best launchers, combos, finishers, best safe moves, unsafe moves, what moves can be easily countered to put you at a disadvantage etc etc etc. Then theres the huge challenge of how to adapt your gameplay to fight every other character in the game too.

I'm still trying to master survival mode even after months and months of playing.

I was thinking of getting viva pinata but, well, seems really kiddy to me
It's far from it - it's actually a very strategic game and takes some getting in to. For example when I first started playing it I was simply trying to get as many Pinata to visit my garden as possible. After a while you realise what a bad idea this is! Fights breaking out all over the place! As you get further into the game it can prove very tricky trying to manage a very small garden and the Pinata's within it.
I would really recommend anyone to try this game out and, if you're into Achievements, all 1000 are very er.. achievable with a little bit of time and effort. :)

lol don't know, everyone in the shop would giggle at me if i went in and bought it :p

and i cannot buy online as i take games back tp swap (low on money)

Have to agree with viva pinata, fantastic game... looks very childish but you find me a child who can master romance a chewnicorn or do any of the hundreds of other different activitys like bonus growth plants, evolve species by making them eat different objects... and the amount of different and inventive animals there are is amazing. Without a doubt my favourite game of the year but unfortunatly no one seems to want to play it.

lol yes they are all achievable except the 50 hours gameply one... its all i need to complete it, but the thing is once all the achievments have been gained you still level up and if you romance a species enough times you can get a special evovled version, but its like one in a million chance of getting one.

everyone seems to love dead rising, I keep thinking right il give it another go it must get better but im so awful at it I just give up. Well actually I play it die, remember I havent saved it for like half an hour and then sulk for the rest of the day becuase iv got to go back near the begininng

I played the demo of lost planet today. Im very impressed, i dont deny its like every other 3rd person shooter, it reminds me a little bit of Starship troopers :p It's still good, and the setting (snow) is a little bit different. Its not as hardcore as gears of war, but still never the less a thumbs up from me. I'll be buying the full game soon.

I've heard good things about V.P. sounds a little too complicated for me!

looks like it be viva pinata then and then ill pick up dead rising later on played the demo and found it good but i need a change from killing things :D - is it possible to do any co-op on VP ? or is it just swaping items etc?

get into the habit of saving whenever your in the vacinity of a save point. Its takes a few seconds buit will save you lots of time. Leant my lesson after saving 10 survivors and defeating 2 bosses and the foolishly dying shortly after without saving. Lost a good 70 oddmins of play :(

Lesson learnt :|

I don't know what others said, (didn't have time to read, sorry) but I would say:

Lost Planet: I loved the demo but the reviews have been good, but alas not stunning. Probably worth getting when cheaper.

Crackdown: Prob good, but wait until a review shows up.

Viva Pinata: Brilliant game. Very different, and much deeper than you might think. Yes, it is a kiddie styled game, but it would be wasted on kids! IGN voted it the best game nobody played. Oh so true.
