Looking over the last month (this was a mistake I know), I've picked up about 25 game titles. Most of which I've not even looked at, a few I've played for a short burst but not actually played properly.

I fool myself into getting these games by telling myself its an irresistable deal / its for a good cause, and that I will eventually get around to playing these games.

I'm still suffering from past steam sales where I have many unplayed games (like many on here).

Fallacy 1 : But it's a good deal!
All these purchases quickly add up, and its not cheap

Fallacy 2 : I'll get round to playing it!
In the hope that you will have a quiet month or quiet year :p and have the chance to catch-up on all the games you haven't played

One day I might even stop collecting, and try to play through my collection one-by-one... but the temptation to buy may be too much... must buy this great game at this great price... Nooo resistance is futile!!

You basically just described my life. My Backlog of Shame is just enormous but I can't stop buying more and more.

Yeah that's precisely the mistake I keep making too. I also love the good feeling of supporting indie devs, especially those who take the time to chat with their fans.

I make it even worse for myself because my favourite kind of game is strategy or sandbox, so I can't even put in a marathon session and finish one to tick it off the list; you can't finish most of the games I play!

Not as bad as you but I still buy games when on Steam sale and never get around to playing them.

I blame multiplayer Bad Company 2 and Battefield 3, that's where all my game time seems to go.

Ive spent a lot of time on Path of Exile, which ironically is Free Beta :p

One of my purchases this month was DCS Black Shark 2... I could spend a looooong time on that one.

Currently playing GTAIV (from the summer sale I think), but I've spent more time getting mods working on it than actually playing it atm. :D

Yeah I'm like this too :p

I'll get a few, but only really end up playing one because I get addicted to it! (Like Civ 5 or pCARS) :p

I most have over 200 unplayed PC games now from buying them in the steam sales :o

And i also got a load of unplayed PS3 & PS Vita games as well :o

I have the same issue but even worse...I buy railworks dlc.

I can't even tell you what kind of train I'm looking at.

Its really quite a problem.

I stayed away from the Steam sale this Christmas but the previous year I bought about 40 games as I'd only just built a new PC and was catching up really.

All I seem to have played is FM 2012 (not even bought on Steam!), Battlefield 3 and F1 2011.... but I'm not buying anything else now for a while although sadly thats more due to not seeing anything I fancy rather than a concious decision not to!

I was kinda like that with Rise of Flight planes- I only fly like 4 of them, but have about 20 in the hangar... My excuse is that I support the developers of a game/genre that I really enjoy and would love to see develop further:) Well that and the fact that some RoF planes are absolute physics masterpieces:)

Thats far too orgainsed! You lose a lot of cred by not having completed Monkey Island :p

im a armchair buyer too.

Just get bored and look around, see a bargin and think oo that would be good... only game I have completed is crysis 2 and I loved that but I have so many good games to play.. just doh :(

I have stopped buying games in the hope that I will one day play them. By the time I get to them, they have inevitably been cheaper in a more recent steam sale.

I have pretty much gored myself on steam sales previously and now I have began to eat into gog's offerings

masters of orion 1/2
fallout (free :) )
jagged alliance pack
alpha centuria
baldurs gate
gothic II

yet most of game time as been with dungeons of dreadmor , lol and don't start me on console purchases !
