just watching the news and seeing that their share price has dropped 43% today.

are they teetering on the edge of going under ?

Why hope they go down? It's good to have somewhere physical to pop in when you want something.

Who the **** cares about CS, it's a damn retail shop for games, just go in, buy what you want and go out. Anyway, my PS3 broke a few days after launch, I took it in there, said it wasn't working and they instantly swapped it over the counter for a new one.

Reason: They are overpriced, and the staff are exceedingly unpleasant. They haven't even tried to compete with the internet threat via better service etc

This.

I've stopped buying anything from Game for a while. Good few years or more.

Need our cities to go back to old times. More farm shops, hand crafted products and that sort of thing. Mass produced low value stuff is online.
I can't see any game/music/film retailer surviving.

If they do go, I will be sad. I rarely buy anything in the stores but for older gamers like myself, they serve as a reminder of how mainstream gaming has become.
The high-street will be worse off without them.

My sentiments exactly, though im not really an 'older gamer'. :)

Only supermarkets and large chains like John Lewis and HMV can support games it seems now.

Even then, they're fighting a losing battle in retail.

nice to see mass generalisation. never had bad customer service in a GAME shop myself, been in several. pricing is about the same as your regular specialist retail store.

Overpriced? Not always.

Most of the time. It's all about online now these days. Likes of Steam sales, Greenman Gaming THQ and other websites etc, they've just taken over. Plus we all like to have it as Download/Delivered.
