I hate game introductions like videos. In Dirt 2 you have to practically watch a whole race before you get to the menu screen, is there a simple of of getting around things like this? Sometimes its the videos folder than just needs renaming or deleting but other times there isnt one.

It would be a lot better if the escape key worked and took you straight to the game menu

Press Enter/Esc/LMB? I've never not been able to skip an intro in any game on PC by pressing one of the aforementioned buttons. Dirt 2 has atrocious loading times between races (that annoying side scroll thing of the outside area when you finish an event makes me rage), but I can get through the intros when I launch the game in a matter of seconds.

Stupid loading times between races too? I usually end up hammering alt&F4 or alt ctrl delete if i cant get out of an intro movie, then quickly to program and features to remove. Im just too impatient and have better things to do instead of watch some intro rubbish

You clearly never played Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War..

I don't mind actual game video's so much, but endless manufacturer/developer/sponsors logo's irritate the hell out of me

Also, I do love the few games that have the intro videos as seperate files. Just delete them, and create new, empty files with the same name. It loads the file, nothing there, so it just moves onto the menu. Just a shame they don't work like that anymore.

Some intro videos are well worth watching imo if you havent seen them before. The warhammer ones are superb

I find the menus of new games often annoying. I played the Dirt 2 demo, and the menus are irritatingly inefficient and overly flashy. I miss simple menus where it's easy to choose what you want. Like Gran Turismo 2, that was almost perfect. The original DiRT was also really annoying when you have autosave on, as instead of doing it intelligently in the background, there's an annoying animation you can't skip. EVERY time.

Another vote for intro vids to be annoying, unskippable ones that is, like intel/nvidia/ati logos and such. They help pay the bills mind.

Crysis is really bad for this, you have to watch three or four introductory videos. I normally go to my Crysis folder and delete the videos by hand. You can do this with virtually any PC game, if you can find the video files for them (rename them instead of deleting though, in case it breaks the game).

I can totally relate to this. It drives me crazy when these games force me to sit through endless AMD/Intel/Nvidia logo's. Even more so when pressing esc/enter etc don't work.

It's further annoying-er where you have to see those intro movies over and again if you keep having to quit the executable as part of the process of finding the right graphics settings, eg if the game has an external config program (or you wanna wiggle ini files).
Okay, the way it's meant to be played - I get it!
