Game judder occaisionally, help please...

I am using Battlefield 2 1.41 at the moment, here are the details:

1) Jerky when playing on internet servers
2) When I host a server, it is fine
3) Single player is fine
4) When the judder occurs, teamspeak also judders in time with it
5) "Problem with connection" shows on screen sometimes
6) With teamspeak off, same issues

I have 2 Mb broadband, I think I have 230 KB/s down and about 25 KB up

The above gives me reasons to beleive a problem of a network / internet nature,
any thoughts? If you need further details, please ask.

I'd try some of the tests here:

http://www.dslreports.com/tools

And see if it comes back with anything nasty.

Try pinging the servers you play on and see how stable it is. If you are getting a lot of flux (max ping a lot higher than average) or any packetloss then that's likely the cause.

Unfortunatly it looks as though these tets are not reliable. Tried all the speed tests and got odd results. Whing I download from microsoft (loadsa bandwidth) with a download manager. I get around 230 KB/s as expected. I am pretty sure I have tested the up before and got 25 KB/s. Is the up enough for gaming, specifically Battlefield 2?

I will give that a go, should a ten minute test be OK? I will echo the results to a .txt so I can reveiw.

Found the problem. Vista was the problem. Transpired when I noticed the judders the HDD light would flicker like mad. When the light settled, the juddering would go away. Transpired Vista access' the HDD a lot more then XP. Background defrag and indexing. I have not looked into a way of turning these of just yet. For nowm using good ol' XP for gaming, in doing so, this has of course rectified the issue. If anyone else has this problem. Look into turning off auto defrag and HDD indexing. I hope this helps anyone with a similar issue.

25kb/s is enough for gaming, most they will use will be about 15kb/s.
