Game like Sim City

Hi

I'm after something new to play and remembered how much time I used to spend on Sim City years ago... whats the best modern day equivilent to that?

Anno is a great series, more AOE than Sim City but a great play.

Cities XL looks good too.

My friend bought Cities XL and had nothing good to say about it. Just putting it out there.

I've played Cities XL 2011 and it was pretty terrible.

I've got Anno 2070 but I doubt it'll satisfy your city-building / management needs if you're used to Sim City, as the variety of things you can build and the level of growth isn't really on the same level. Obviously there is a lot more to it than just building, though.

The best game to play is still Sim City 4. It's still quite beautiful, too.

While it's not quite the same as Sim City, Tropico is also an excellent city building/management sim with a great sense of humour.

Tropico was alright for one play through but lacked depth. Love to recommend something but nothing comes close to Sim city really.
