game lock ups

Playing battlefield 2 not just the hitching,stuttering but now its completely freezing up ive seen a complete grey screen once, but when it freezes up i can hear what sounds like a low squeel like Capacitor Noise.

Other games dont lock up, but keep stuttering

Is it the same without overclocking? All patched up, DX9 and all that stuff?

Sure is!

1) One thing ive noticed is , im hearing what can only be described as fast paced clicking coming from my psu when the system is off...

2) My psu sometimes fails to start the system if the psu has been left unplugged from the wall , it will either flick the system ie fans come on and system dies or wont power up at all. * If the psu has been left powered 24/7 system starts fine *

And today im going to be RMA'ing a Hiper Type-R 580w PSU again for obvious reasons, so hope all goes smoothly with this one too.

Just received a bunch of new parts including my brand new Black Hiper Type-R , plugged everything in as normal and it powers on for about 1 sec then powers off, I did have it running for about 20mins at one point but i didnt receive any VGA, Soon as i connected anohter power supply everything worked fine, Wondering if there must be something wrong with it.

Someone else ^ Sigh.... Guess i need to get another psu and that's ONE of the faults happening to me if i leave my psu off over night

A review i found...

However, 20 minutes into the 75 per cent load stress test the Type R started to behave rather oddly. What happened could only be descried as a minor disaster and we almost had to cancel the whole test. Although the Type R passed the stress test, it switched itself off a couple of minutes. Far worse though, it had managed to damage the test equipment we where using! Luckily the engineers managed to repair it after a couple of hours, but it was one problem we hadn’t expected to come across

Verdict

The Hiper Type R looks great, but sadly it is troubled by poor wiring and proved unreliable.
