hi, i have got a wireless gamepad, looks like the ps2/3 one but it doenst have a model or make on it anywhere, got it from game about 4 months ago i think. anyway, i have found that 99% of games dont recognise it so i am unable to use it, is this common with controllers, if so is there any (nothing too expensive) that is pretty much compatible with everything, or could this be a driver issue?

does it detect in windows / control panel, can you configure settings / test it in control panel?

usb one?

if it works in windows games should pick it up with no issues

ive used about 5 different pads, but the best by far has to be the 360 pads

get a crossfire dongle and a wireless pad and you wont look back .... ever ;)

yeah windows finds it, and certain games like fifa 2010, crash time III find it, but burnout paradise, need for speed shift etc wont even show one is connected.

have you updated the drivers, windows update, manufactures website etc..

uninstalled then reinstalled drivers?

is it the :

"GAMEware PC RF Control Pad"

with a name like that, no wonder it doesn't play ball :p

lol this is the problem, there is absolutly no marks, names, model number at all on it, so i dont know what it is or who made it, it was a cheap £10 from game.
i see what you are saying about it being a cheap one, but i dont want to spend £32 on a xbox360 one to have similar problems.

edit : just looked up that model 'GAMEware PC RF Control Pad' and yes thats my pad :(

well try the troubleshooting above and if it still doesn't work you can usually take it back for a refund, game are usually good with refunds if you have the receipt, they sell the 360 pad and crossfire dongle for £35, or it can be had cheaper elsewhere

the 360 pad works great with nfs shift, most games are programmed with the 360 pad in mind, even the 360 pad works in game menus etc...

also another good pad is the logitech rumble pad 2, never had problems with that and it lasted a good few years, but not a patch on the crossfire / 360 pad combo

good luck mate :)

any ideas where i would get the drivers from, or would theybe generic ones?
also, i have a xbox 360 so would the controllers from that work for multiplayer, or do you need a reciever for each pad?

4 pads and 4 headsets per crossfire dongle simultaneously

not sure about the drivers, is there not a website link on the box / instructions?

i would usually rely on the windows drivers tbh

i have a ps3 and a 360 and i hated the 360 pad to start with but kinda like it now, seems to be a lot better, especially with racing games as the trigger buttons react to how far they are pushed in whereas the ps3 its either pressed or its not. so anything with a similar feel would be ideal.

I have a controller like a ps2/3 one I got from game a while back for family PC, came with a little drivers disc, popped it in comp installed, controller works great on FIFA07, Star Wars Battlefront II, GTA San Andreas, Resident Evil 4 since the beginning and still is going strong, I've got a 360 wired controller for windows that I'll use when I get my new gaming pc. The problems tend to be setting the controls on most games, thats something to look into, if you cant change the controls to the controller buttons, maybe there is a file in the program files for the game, Resident Evil 4 has something like that.

Sorry for taking this a little off topic/being a complete fool, but I am about to buy a wireless 360 controller and was just wondering if I need to buy anything else other than the controller and wireless receiver pack. Do I need some kind of charger or anything? Don't own a xbox so I have no idea how exactly it works.

thanks :D
