Game Registering Problem.

Right, I've sent this question off to EA Support as trawling the net wasn't getting me any closer to an answer so I thought I'd post my question here and see if anyone has had any similar problem or knows the solution.

Hello, I couldn't find a relevant category for my question so I hope this is sent to the right people to deal with my query. I have Command & Conquer 3 for the PC and I would like to play online with a friend. However, the game requires me to register it, if I click 'register' in game it brings me back to my Windows Desktop and opens up an EA registration window that I can click 'Register Now' on. When I do this it hangs for a few moments and then tells me it can't connect. I've tried disabling my security software, allowing an exception in the firewall, or simply turning the firewall off but again, the same thing has happened and I've tried clicking on 'Try Again' multiple times.

This could be a problem with my PC so I decided to head over to EA.com and to register my game online there. When I try to register it tells me that the serial number I've used has already been registered which is not possible. I obviously haven't registered it before as when I am in Command & Conquer 3 it notifies me that I have to first register the game before I can play online. I hope that you can help with this problem and I have included pictures of the game case, the disks and the manual. The game was bought from a computer shop, sealed and unopened several years ago when Command & Conquer 3 was first released. Thank you for your assistance and I hope the matter can be resolved swiftly.

EA haven't replied yet and it was sent about 29 hours ago. Any ideas?

Is the game brand new from a retailer? Or is it simply a copy someone has given/sold you?

If it's new I would return it and get another copy to try.

If its 2nd hand or a hand me down then I don't think it will let you re-register the game (please correct me if I'm wrong guys) and in order to play you'll need to log in witht he original details?

Couple of shots in the dark?

No it was bought brand new and sealed 3 years ago from a well known high street computer store. I've not lent it to anyone and it's only ever been installed on the machine I'm currently using. I've never registered the game before as I've only ever played the single player. You need to register the game to your EA Account in order to play the game online and according to EA this CD key has already been registered on somebody elses account. This isn't possible in the legitimate sense because I am the only person who has had access to the CD key printed on the back of the manual which leads me to suspect it was registered by somebody who has downloaded a copy of the game using a torrent and then used a keygen to clone a cd key. They have then registered online and because they've registered it before I have it means my legitimate CD key is now no longer useable.

Just as a bit of extra info I did finally manage to get EA's registration thing working with the Kane's Wrath expansion pack but that's useless to me as the person I want to play only has vanilla C&C3.
