Braid and Cogs are fantastic games. Braid especially, brought me so many grins after struggling on a puzzle and beating it.

I'd second TR:Underworld. I got it for less than 8 quid on boxing day and it kept my partner and I engrossed over the festive period. Though I'd have to do the bits with the huge spiders, she was generally hooked. The only other game she likes is Oblivion, because of the potion and spellmaking...
