How easy is it to run a game server?

I'm thinking of buying a 16-slot server for COD4&5.
Do I need to do advertising for players to join the servers?

firstly why are you renting a server ?
if its to play with friends or a clan you wont need to advertise
but yea cod4 servers are pretty easy to admin
and may i suggest rackage for the server

Quite imple really, google for server hosters and go from there.

Can someone recommend me a game server host?

Preferabally as cheap and reliable as possible. UK only.

We rent a few servers from Gaming Deluxe. Not had any problems.

I can recommend GTX Gaming servers, very helpful and they will set you up a free trial server to have a play about with, check pings etc...

Also EG servers are cheap.
