Hope you like the looks of them, they were originally made for some old clan mates who'd been playing games for years as well, as a trip down memory lane. They just happen to contain what I personally think are some of the more memorable tracks that have come around. I have plenty more soundtrack stuff here, but obviously I dont want to fill the lists with huge numbers of memorable tracks from just a few games.

You will probably notice there's a heavy trend towards Japanese orientated sountracks, however I believe that is only fair as Asia has given us some of the best games; and along with it the best soundtracks. Hear the emerald hill zone theme, pokemon theme, or the Deus Ex theme and they will instantly bring back memories for most of us, same with the Baldur's Gate themes.

The entire Phantasy Star Online Episodes 1, 2, 3 and 4 and even the appaling Universe games have memorable tracks, my absolute favourite being the first boss, the Dragon on the first game (Growl, From The Depths Of The Earth). This series just has some of the best mixture of Synthesizer and Orchestra tracks to fit in with the Sci-Fi Fantasy theme.

To be honest, I am with you there, a lot of Japanese developed games tend to have better and more memorable music (Especially themes and melodies) in pretty much any era of the past 20 years+ of Videogame history. The 16-bit era of the MegaDrive and SNES being very prominant to the old-school tunes and hardware. The Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage series is one of the best examples.

They possibly are but they're splattered all over youtube (which is usually fairly quick to have copyrighted music pulled nowadays), and are being linked from there in the other thread, and elsewhere, not to mention unlike a normal album aren't something we can just generally go and buy, with the possible exception of FF, but I'd imagine thats only licensed in perhaps Japan and possibly America, but its not something you'd get here/europe. A fair few of them are also original 're-imaginings' so would probably come under fanwork/fanfic, so I'm hoping these will be fine.

If the Dons have any problems with these compilations I'll happily remove the links etc :)
Unless/until that happens I hope everyone enjoys them :)

I think this is a good time to pimp Video Games Live again :) lol

their volume 1 CD isn't half bad though a bit short. It's a shame they wern't allowed to use any music from Sonic though :(
