I'd say Timesplitters 2 beats it though, and for me has probably the best soundtrack for a game ive ever heard.

Q4T, Timesplitters 2 was an fantastic game, I spent days with my cousin playing Multiplayer Virus mode.

Ooh, from the Amiga 1200, Pinball Illusions, classic. Zool soundtrack was pretty cool too. I like the Mafia soundtrack out of more modern games; it uses both old (1940s) recordings and orchestra/film style music created for the game.

Final Fantasy 7 for the midi-tastic win... But also Homeworld, Quake, Vice City (Cars + machine guns + Raining Blood = senseless killing spree) and Tony Hawks 2 (We're running in a cyc-o-lone)... Ascendancy had amazing music, but I doubt anyone else remembers it now.
