Are there any games that play similarly to DMZ in COD, ie looting and shooting and AI enemies but without the horrid toxic human players?

My boy and I thoroughly enjoy the sneaking about, being careful while looting, and then action of the shooting (we love the feel of the weapons in DMZ) but are really fed up with being constantly killed by human players just because we are there. Are there any games that can give us a similar experience but which are only PvE?

I've seen some mention of some of the Rainbow Six franchise games but don't really want to shell out for two copies without some certainty that they'll be what we're after?

Left-field option, but what about Halo MCC? Either co-op campaign or things like Firefight?

(doesn't have sneaking about though)

Sniper elite 4 and 5 are super cheap and have co-op but are very similar as each other and while the campaign maps and DLC maps are varied they're really just a change of scenery with the same core mechanics. You can be as quiet or as loud as you like too.

You might enjoy The Division as a co-op experience as well and keys will be super cheap. Despite being 7-8 years old it still looks fantastic too.

I did consider the Halo games but we both prefer the more 'real world' type setting.

The Division might be a good shout, seems to be cheap on ubisoft connect... Looks to be a bit like Dying Light but with more guns and less zombies, which sounds good.

Any other suggestions would be great.

Probably a bit too advanced and a very steep learning curve, but Escape from Tarkov is excellent, extraction-based looter shooter, although this does have PvPvE, also should be noted that it's still in Beta but is very well supported.

Other than that, The Division/Division 2 and Destiny 2 (Although possibly a bit late in the day to jump into that now), both are heavy and mainly PvE based, but you can also jump into PvP / PvPvE if you want to change things up a bit.

Division 2 - it has an 8 hour free trial on Epic games launcher (probably also on ubisoft) and its more co-op than solo play. Really good game - I'm still playing through the free trial

It was £5 on cdkeys the other day

How about the Payday games? Maybe not so much looting of gear/weapons as such, but definitely has the sneaky side nailed, along with the shooting when it all goes wrong :p
Ah yes, we got Payday 2 on Epic recently, and really enjoyed it.

The division and division 2 are excellent shooter games in pve and pvp.

More votes for The Division, I shall definitely check out that free trial, great to see what a game is like before paying out for it. Any idea which version I'd need to get for the CD key, there seems to be a few a they vary in price hugely?!

Boarderlands series maybe? although its more run and gun.
left 4 dead - witchs anyone?

I may have borderlands knocking about on Steam or Epic, might check that out.

Left 4 Dead we have played a good deal of, the joys of Witches and Tanks!!! lol

Any other suggestions very much welcomed.

i've nto played these but they seem like they might fit the bill :multiplay co-op
its old but may be E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy
Generation Zero
aragami 2
hacktag
paranormal cleanup
GTFO

Definitely try sniper elite games in coop mode, they are great fun, think they are on Xbox game pass as well which can be bought for a few quid if you haven’t got it.

Dying light is also great in cop mode

And red dead 2 is great in multiplayer mode, you set the server rules so no grievers and what not

I played EYE with a mate when it first came out... Must be about 15 years ago? It was janky as hell, but we enjoyed it :D

I was going to suggest GTFO, but it's pretty hardcore, and almost exclusively sneaking, with no real looting or shooting unless everything has gone very, very wrong :D

The Division is probably the best shout, you can probably pick up 2 copies for > £10

I forgot to mention, two of my other fav games from the Ubisoft franchise are FarCry5 and Ghost Recon: Wildlands.

These are 2 brilliant games, you can completely immerse yourself with these.
Yeah, I think I'd throw FarCry co-op and GR:WildLands in the mix as well, both solid for some co-op fun..... Think I'd also keep an eye out for the upcoming Helldivers 2 release which is going to be a squad-based shooter, its out next month on PC & PS5.
