Game suggestions

Sad to say as I get older I'm slowly turning into a casual gamer, but when I do stumble on one I like I play it to death and then have a break before finding another.

I seem to find it hard to find games that hold my attention span for longer periods though, so any suggestions would be great, including past games as well because I rarely keep on top of the endless releases so will have missed loads.

Games I like and play/played recently:

Fallout new vegas (yeah I know how old it is lol)
GTA 5 (any of the others worth a look? I only played Vice City previously)
Last Of Us
All the Batman games
Mark of the Ninja
Portal
Hitman series
Gran Turismo
Grid 1
Dirt 3

Generally I seem to like open world stuff with a bit of everything like mission play and a bit of FPS.

Things I'm not keen on are fantasy stuff, no elves and goblins please, also not keen on the pure twitch shooters like BF/COD etc, I tried Arma 2 as well but just got bored really quickly. Not really interested in co-op or online play so a strong single player element is a must.

Cheers for reading through the waffle.

Have you looked at the Borderlands series of games? Well worth a look and 1&2 in the series can be had quite cheap these days, lots of DLC too so a large amount of gametime to be had with each one.

Bioshock series is also worth a look

Far Cry 3 and 4 (though not tried 4 yet).
Fallout 3 (get modding it and it gets even better).
GTA IV (not a great port but if your system is decent then it should run pretty well).
Shadow of Mordor (epic game).

Stoner81.

Second Third Sleeping Dogs, fantastic game.

Elite:Dangerous if you think you can keep up with those using joysticks etc (game works fine on a gamepad btw). billions of stars not open world enough ? (just don't expect much else content wise for now lol)

GTA V PC when it comes at the end of the month, likely to be a mad modding scene on it.

I'm a similar gamer to you OP (though have got more of a bug back for gaming the last few months).

I have mostly enjoyed casual open world games (fallouts, elder scrolls, MEs etc) the last few years and bought Farcry 3 to try in the thanksgiving sales. I was surprised how much I enjoyed/am enjoying it.

Enough open worldy to do what you want, when you want..... lovely setting not needing a highly powered PC.... and great mechanics and fun, not taking itself too seriously or rushed.

I have FC4 lined up for more of the same soon.

Skyrim would also fit the bill if you liked the fallouts. I always have a game simmering in the background.

Thanks all, lots to be going on with there!

Forgot Just Cause 2, not played it recently but that game was epic, it actually made me go out and build a half decent gaming PC.

Edit: I watched someone playing Alien Isolation on YT a while back, I couldn't even watch them play it never mind play it myself. too much of a wuss, don't like the jumpy stuff :o

Sleeping Dogs is an absolutely great game, finished it a couple of days ago.

Bioshock Infinite is another brilliant story, visually stunning too.

I really enjoyed the exploration in Far Cry 3, so much to do and interesting story line.

Mafia 2.

Stalker (modded). Plenty of great play throughs on the tube, though it might prove a little too unnerving for you. Try viewing a video first and see what you think.

Another for sleeping dogs! I come back to that game every 6 months or so and play it all the way through each time. Mucho fun!

+1 for borderlands, i'm loving it atm, its like skyrim only in fps flavour with gta esque cartoony visuals. and it supports co-op mode very easily.

plus any game that comes with triple screen and hud adjustment built in goes high up in my book :p

I am currently playing through Bullet storm again, Fun crazy shooter (Not twitch but is linear) that does not take itself too seriously. I believe it is only a couple of £££ as well.

I will also join the band wagon for Sleeping dogs and Borderlands.

Have you tried any of the Civ games? Civ 5 is an amazing game once you have the DLC for it.

Alien Isolation

Another vote here although it didn't do my ticker any good.

I've started to play some old games I've bought on Steam that i never got to play first time round. I've just started Assassins Creed and Fear 2. Apart from FC4, there's nothing around at the moment that can't wait.

Assassins Creed series
Sleeping Dogs
Watch Dogs
Tomb Raider series
Farcry 3,4
Need for speed hot pursuit 2010
Delta force - old game
Road rash - old fav
age of empires - time killer
