Bit old skool here but I have a gamecube I'd like to hook up to my sammy tv which is the D6900 plasma. The gamecube comes with a component cable (YRW) and on the old tv I used to connect this to a scart adapter and plug the scart into the back of the tv. The sammy doesnt come with any scart inputs.

Does anyone know of a component (YRW) to HDMI adapter I could use to then connect the console up through one of the HDMI ports?

I assume you mean composite rather than component, component has 5 phono (red, green, blue for picture, white, red for audio), composite, as I assume you've abbreviated to YRW being yellow, white and red.

You can't easily convert composite (or component) to HDMI, as HDMI is a digital signal and those types are analogue.

Having a look at the manual for a D6900 on the Samsung site, I think you should have had an adapter for both SCART and for composite cables to allow you to use older devices. Have a look in your box or wherever you'd put the contents.

there's a few component to hdmi up scaling devices available one as cheap as £50 on flebay. I've been looking into doing the same with my playstation. Not sure how good there actually are.

If I was in your position, I'll would pickup a cheap 2nd hand wii which would play gamecube games and have all the connections need.

Buy a RGB scart cable for the Gamecube. Should cost about a fiver and will look glorious, literally the bet output you can achieve for the money. Mine is hooked up to my Panasonic plasma.

Your tv has no scart socket physically on the back, but in the box is a small adapter to accept a scart input.

Gamecube component cables cost a fortune and require your console has the digital output on the back. Though I suspect when you say component you mean terrible composite.

These are your best bet. RGB SCART on GC looks fantastic, it's night and day compared to Composite.

But if you want Component your best bet is to go with a Wii and just use it as a GameCube.
