So, the moment I have been waiting for has finally arrived and my little boy (3yo) has started to enjoy console gaming! I held on to my gamecube which hasn't been used for quite some time in expectation of this, and he is really enjoying Mario Kart DD and Super Mario Sunshine, but my question is, what other Gamecube games are good for young kid's, while still being fun for me to play along with him?

Just had a quick look - certainly looks colourful enough to get his interest, but looks like it may be abit complex to hold it - he get's stuff like driving / squirting water etc but trying to explain what to do (ie blue ones can withstand fire etc) would be impossible.

Is it really simple?

Was thinking super monkey ball might be an idea.

I'm in Hunwick (near Bishop Auckland)

What about the bongo games (can't remember what it was called) are they any good?

At three a lot of games that look kiddy are in fact still a little complex, my son used to love just jumping in and out of the water in Mario Sunshine though.

Yeah, he loves Burnout3 as he has got the hang of steering and loves crashing, but most of the stuff on Mario Sunshine is beyond him - he just enjoys running around and squirting things.

He also loved Luigi's Mansion but crapped himself when any ghosts jumped out :D

crazy taxi

hes gonna love it just driving round simple game but great fun going from a - b

bongos in my opinion a bit hard but my little kid is only 2 and doesnt play games yet

Only played Crazy Taxi for a few mins ages ago, but I thought it was a mission type game (ie each person you pick up, has to go to a specific place in a specific time). Is this the case or could he just drive around as much as he wanted without needing to pick people up? If he can just drive around then I think he would probably like it.

not 100% off the top of my head

however he can set the time limit for sure (dont quote me but i think its max of 10 minutes or something per game) then he can just drive round it doesnt matter if he drops them off etc.

its not mission based if he picks people up he just is supposed to drop them off within a certain amount of time if he doesnt they just get out and he can pick up others.

i think personally it would be a fantastic game for a 3 year old.

Dora the Explorer and the Purple planet - simple, but its a "proper" game for little uns - my little girl played it all the way thru....can be had pretty cheap from the usual stockists...

What age is that aimed at?

This isn't a console game so I guess it really doesn't belong in this thread, but we bought one of these on an auction site when our son was about 3ish and it was a fantastic investment (BNIB for about £10 incl shipping :))

It's called the Playskool Store or something like that. Not sure if they still make it, but check out the auction sites I'm sure you'll find it.

As you can see, it has a huge chunky cash register that clips on to a PC keyboard, and when you press the buttons or swipe the credit card or use the abrcode scanner then it presses certain keys. The game itself is pretty funny and has loads of different types of games. IIRC there's even a drawer that opens up where you can put pretend money so that they can get really carried away.

We also got another one which is the Playskool JCB workshop thingy... instead of a cash till it has a saw and a drill and a sander and stuff like that. It was popular too, but the games aren't as good as the Store one.
