Gamecube games on Wii - Screen problem

I will get pictures posted up in a couple of hours but just wanted to know if anyone else was having this problem.

I have my Wii hooked up to my TV using the Official Wii Component cable. So everything is running at 60hz 480p. When I play Wii games everything is fine, but not so when I play GameCube games.

When I play a Gamecube game the game plays in widescreen but not fully. On the left there seems to be a 1 inch black bar & on the right there seems to be a 0.5 inch black bar. Now it would make sense I suppose if both bars on either side were the same, but they aren't :(

So I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem? I will take some pictures and upload them soon. I am thinking it is down to the Component cable so I will try out the Composite cable as well. As I said I will post back with pictures and results of the cable switch.

EDIT. Well I took some pictures and with my TV having a glossy black bezel you can't really see it, but I hope you all know what I mean above.
I have switched to using the Composite cable in both 480i and 576i mode and still have the border trouble. Any ideas?

The game is displaying in its native 4:3 aspect ratio rather than stretching to 16:9. Trust me it will look better with the borders rather than stretching out to fill the screen.

It's not a plasma TV is it?

My pixel orbiter on my plasma can do weird things like that if it's set too aggressively.

No it's an LCD... I don't think the TV mode is messed up as the Wii is fine (on everything bar Gamecube games), so is my PS3 and my Virgin Media

Bit of vague info for you: I recently bought a Wii component cable and also went with the official one. I was reading 3-line user reviews of other make component cables and found quite a bit of moaning about not being able to play older generation nintendo games properly, mainly via the online market place. TBH, I couldn't be bothered to research any further, and just bought the official one. Maybe they all have similar limitations.

I've got the official component cable for my Wii also. After MotD I'll fire up some Gamecube games and look at the borders and see if it is the same for my TV.

Edit: Just tested Wind Waker, Resident Evil and The Twin Snakes and didn't have any problems with uneven borders.
