gamecube

The only games that supported proper online play were the Phantasy Star Online series. And this was a subscription based service (with 30 day trial or something) run by Sega.

Other games (such as Mario Kart Double Dash) would support local LAN play only.

For both of these, you would need the Gamecube Broadband Adaptor that plugs in one of the ports on the base of the console.

If i remember right their was a program called warp wipe that would alow you to play some games online but they were never built for online play so most games suffer from lag.

The real problem is that the Big N didnt support online play so you will NO games with a dedicated online function :(

Yer thats all true. I do wonder some times that the LAN DD would be like, Id love to try it but the adapter is always about 35 quid so 70 quid just to play 8 player mario kart seems pretty crazy.
