Back in the day I used play.com, but a couple of years ago it turned out they could never get games to you on release, not even release weekend, so I turned to gameplay who where excellent. Just went to pre-order a game and noticed their now Gamestation (online).

Can these be trusted, is play.com any better these days.

Who you guys having the best experience in with pre-ordering games and getting them the day before release or at the latest the release day?

I am lucky, I live within walking distance of a toystore that sells videogames, on release, but no one ever buys from there.

I got Gears of War 3, 3 days after release but still got the pre-order bonus!

ShopTo is now my go to place for pre-orders and physical copies. Great customer service, can sometimes get pre-orders delivered a day early and they even go the extra mile by taking a picture of your package and emailing it to you before they dispatch it :p

I've only had repeatedly bad experiences with play.com, never going near them ever again (have never received my pre-orders from them). I only use Amazon these days, as they've always delivered on time with no hassle whatsoever, and have been cheaper than most others a number of times.

I have used play.com in the past, I have been disappointed with delivery times.

I have used Shopto on the odd occasion and I have been impressed with their delivery times.

It's who I would use from now on TBH.

CJs CD Keys seemed very good for Guild Wars 2 -- will be using them again.

They're very cheap granted but I (as with many people) experienced a problem in that a key was already in use, was a ball ache to get a replacement because their customer service is poor at best.

They're also nearly always Russian stock which is dodgy in itself - when I emailed Steam support they said they didn't support foreign keys and I should only purchase keys for my territory.

I'd rather pay a bit more from a more reputable retailer selling UK stock.

Shopto is the best by a very long way, simply superb service. I've used them for at least 10 preorders over the last 3 years and they've got one to me on release day and the rest a day or two before release day :)

Tesco Entertainment, last 4 pre-orders I did I got 2 days before release. They normally offer a decent price as well.

Ordered a game off play.com for first time 21 days ago still waiting for it. Emailed support still waiting for a answer 24 hours later.

I waited 2 months once before they eventually told me they didn't have the item in stock, and weren't expecting to have any more again despite having charged me for it.

Shopto are hard to beat for speed... dare I say impossible? They also credit your account with a fiver if a preorder is late. They aren't always the cheapest but I've seen a game dispatched and on it's way by the time I have I read the email confirming the order.

Avoid Play.com like the plague!! I have add some terrible experiences with them. Someone gained access to my login details and ordered £550 worth of ipod touches. Even though I realised what had happened the same day (couldn't withdraw and money from the hole in the wall) and immediately told Play they said they would cancel the order and I'd get my money back...... I didn't get my money until 4 months later when my bank got involved.

I use Amazon regularly. Always get my games on time and seem to be cheaper to most other retailers.

Back in the days of the Dreamcast I bought all my games from Gameplay, they were a massive player back then and their service was excellent. These days it's either Steam, shopto or rainforest. Play used to be good but their once iron clad delivery dates aren't as reliable as they used to be.
