ET:QW Beta and RtCW run relatively smooth yet FEAR MP and the new MoH Airborne are juddery even, at default settings.

My specs are as follows;
DFI LanParty NF4 Ultra-D
AMD X2 3800
2Gb PC3200 Geil
XFX 6800GT 256Mb
Dell 2007 WFP @1680x1050

Suggestions to improve the gameplay would be welcome.

really obvious but you got all the latest drivers (lots of people dont update regularly)

Tried that and still it is the same. Game starts ok but within a minute movement is far slower on screen than actual movement of the mouse. MoH stutters and pauses too.

my systems almost identical to yours, just be happy yours doesnt slow down to 30fps when playing multiplayer call of duty (1)

There's your problem right there - a 6800GT is going to struggle in demanding titles like FEAR at that resolution. In fact I seem to remember the FEAR readme states that it isn't recommended to use resolutions over 1024x768 on cards of the time (6800 series).

Of course if you tweak a few settings then you may be able to get things semi-playable. Make sure textures are on medium, and shadows on low (with soft shadows disabled). Run the performance benchmark and try and keep tweaking settings until you have 100% over 40fps.

RTCW is from way back in 2001 so it is not surprising that it runs fine on your setup - not sure about ET:QW though as I've never played it myself.

Turned shadows off as suggested in FEAR Combat, reduced res to 800X600 in the MoH demo without, improvement.

When I play Insurgency on all high settings I get no stutter and 50fps, but when I play on low settings I get 10fps :p

Hmm. If dropping to 800x600 offers no improvement, then Airbourne is likely CPU limited.

What are the requirements for MoH then? I will reinstall BF2 tomorrow and check the gameplay in that, it worked OK last time I fired it up.
Maybe a format of my C drive is due :(
