I've currently got a dell xps 420 that's really starting to struggle with newer games. BF3 was performing really poorly.

I'm also needing a new laptop so I've decided to get a gamer laptop that should keep me going for a while and save space.

I'm not overly clued up on laptop hardware, or how the graphics on laptops are nowadays, but I imagine if I spend enough I will get something which can handle all the top games for a while at high settings?

I'll probably hook it up to the big lcd downstairs, so hdmi is a must. Also, I have THIS sound system and would like to be able to watch 5.1 dd films through VLC. Currently I get this through the audigy 2 zs in my pc which facilitates this. So the laptop will need proper sound outputs.

I've done limited research on machines but I did a quick alienware search and found this. ** Competitor link removed **Not sure if it's worth it and ideally I'd spend less, but I have the money so could stretch to it if necessary.

Any ideas?

I would recommend dropping the dell link not allowed other companys links here.

As for the laptop if you want to spend less take a look at the Dell outlet store, then click laptops and on the side pick the MX17R3, should save quiet abit that way.

Or if your looking for a brand new machine I would recommend Vortex II 17 (google it), or some of the MSI range on OCUK, both a great machines.
