Gamercard Public?

Hey, i'm just setting up XBL and just registering but was wondering, do they make your details public to people that check your profile? Wondering why it wanted me d.o.b?

What details do they actually ask of on your gamercard?

I think you just have your name and location public, you don't have to though, don't think anything else is public apart from your little description thing you can do, thats all i think.

DOB etc isn't shown, though it is used for parental control (e.g. my 17 year old brother has to ask me to sign in with my account to switch off the parental controls on his box).
