Mixture of Wireless and Powerline.

Wifi device is an Airport Extreme which drowns out the neighbours so no speed / packet loss.

Powerline for devices that don't move.

Wired to a router. I despise wireless connections, its just an extra layer of random instability without any conceivable reason.

Wired. I run a mahoosive cable from downstairs to my room. However my PS3 is wireless, but soon to be wired

You guys are so paranoid. I have wireless on both my PC's, Xbox is wireless, as is the PS3, Wii, my phone and my brothers phone. I have the Sky HD box wired but I notice no difference in speeds, downloads, ping times, latency etc when using wired over wireless. I've run multiple speed tests, downloads and personal experience and can't see or feel any difference between the two. I'm very happy with my wireless setup and won't be going back to wired thanks.

Wireless on pc wired on xbox and wireless laptop would like to go wired on my pc but don't want a long cable running through the house. Has anyone any experience with those networks that runs through your mains socket, any good?

PC is wired and always will be. I think it was wireless for about a month before I got fed up of it and just routed a cable from the computer to my Netgear router and it's been that way ever since.

As has been said; Laptops = Wireless, Desktops = Wired. Anything I use to play games is wired.

Main PC - Wired (Gigabit Ethernet)
PS3 - Wireless (G 54Mb/s)

Netbook - Wireless (N 300Mb/s)

Both the PS3 and the PC is connected by wireless. There is no way for me to do it wired unless i run cables or use powerline adapters. Wireless works perfectly fine for me too.

Wired all the way for gaming. Had to play EQ2 on wireless a few years ago and it was painful - the phones ringing.....oh, I've lagged. Somebody is using the microwave.....oh, I've lagged. Blurg. I just use wireless for my netbook because it's just fine for general web/e-mail.

Currently on wireless, (usb adapter) not great tbh. I bought a set of 200 mbps homeplugs, but they refuse to work in my house. Hopefully by changing the location of my gaming rig ill be going to a wired setup, should be able to hide the majority of the cable behind furniture, as my room has prefinished wooden floors i have no carpets i could put it under.

Wireless, been using wireless for 6-7 years. though I would prefer a wireless connection I don't think the parents would appreciate me having some cat5 crawling along the stairs or me knocking nails into the bannister :D.

Prefer wired but I'm on wireless, and to be honest I don't really mind it as I can get ping's as low as 26ms in some UK servers.
