Gamers Nexus needs your help investigating Gigabyte's PSUs.

If you have a Gigabyte GP-P850GM or GP-P750GM power supply, please email us at team [at] gamersnexus dot net. We are investigating PSU failures. We're particularly interested in units that exhibited smoke / fire smell or failed catastrophically (e.g. melted cables). We purchased some recently and are trying to troubleshoot some differences in the safe vs questionable units that have been sold lately.

It seems Techpowerup's woes may be more widely spread.

Time to talk about the negatives, of which there are quite many, which you will have probably already noticed by looking at our list of cons. For starters, my sample died during the over power evaluation, which is a great shame. The primary switching FETs blew up with a hell of a bang. The thing literally exploded, and thankfully, I had it inside a sturdy wooden box or it might have damaged something else in my lab.

Weird thing is that we have used easily over 100 units of the 750w Gold PSUs over the last year

GN indicate that there are good ones and bad ones. If you have details of the ones you supplied then I'm sure GN would be delighted to receive them.
