Nice to see the 12700k still getting a mention. I run mine overclocked, but well below the default voltage on my mobo, and with well-tuned RAM it performs very well.

If I were in need of a new CPU though, I'd be all over the 9800x3D.

Yeah i think its a good chip, especially for the money..... under £200 as i write this.

both AMD and intel saw a decline last year , but not going to celebrate either or both are Vile multinational corporations AMD is not some plucky little underdog , on my 2nd amd graphics card you dont see me posting crap about Nvidia I just use what is best bang for the buck at the time

On my first AMD GPU after 3 generations of Nvidia, well done you're not an ass, you see a lot of Nvidia and Intel people posting crap about AMD. Intel have an entire website dedicated to poo posting about AMD.

same with processors you use what Is the best for you nothing winds me up more than pages of people running down one or the other

currently I have been back and forth over AM5 9000 series /socket 1700 i5-14600/13600 ( budget choice )

the 9700x seems to tick most of what I need from a cpu at £300 ish trying to convince myself about the 9800x3d but its a lot more money

The 9700X is a great chip, its still one of the best Gaming CPU's and yes a whole lot cheaper than the 9800X3D, i have my eye on one myself.
