Gamers Nexus - Best CPU Coolers We've Tested (2024): Thermals, Noise Levels, & Value

I don't know why Thermalright hasn't put more effort into SFF coolers. They have the AXP90-X36/AXP90-X47/AXP90-X53 but they are ancient now and need updating. The AXP120-X67 is a excellent cooler and is what I have used in my wifes AM4 pc cooling a 5600x and it does a great job but that's about the only decent low profile cooler they do. There is the SI-100 but at 100mm tall it's not really low profile. Instead of doing a gazillion different variations on their AIO's maybe they should spend some time updating their SFF coolers which I am sure they would sell more of.

I think aside from updating the garbage mounting on the AXP90 coolers, there isn't that much for them to do imo. They have the AXP120-x67 which is excellent as you say, and also the Silver Soul 135/PA120 Mini for traditional layout cases such as the Ncase M1/M2, those are basically within margin of error of Noctuas larger D12L.

Both Thermalright and ID=Cooling make excellent coolers.

I've used and/or tested many of Thermalright AXP series and really like them. I've also used many of ID-Cooling IS series similar design coolers and found them to perform within a couple degrees or 2 of same number of heatpipe models as AXP. Take into account differences in cooler to IHS seating print / heat transfer is easily a couple of degree difference and both brands have very similar performance.
Thermalright AXP-90, AXP-100 & AXP-200 all use 6x6mm heatpipes. Biggest challenge is keeping heated exhaust air from mixing into and heating up cool airflow to cooler. Unless case has venting directly over cooler fan, I run cooler fan to pull air out of cooler because this usually give cooler cooler air.

ID-Cooling's tower coolers and Thermalright coolers of similar size and number of heatpipes have similar performance too, but I think ID-Cooling has aesthetics that some users look for.

I never knew that Wilko sold thermal paste?

I've never heard of the brand, and something about it reminds me of that big pot of crap that Linus Tech Tips once reviewed. :)

The only issue with ID Cooling is their fans mostly suck, except their latest one which is decent

Yeah, they suck on intake side and blow out exhaust side.

Most of their fans I've used were on coolers, but a few were case fans. I had no issues with them.

The Zalman CNPS20X is the best HSF I’ve seen/used for the money. Pretty much a D15 for half the price.
The 17X isn’t too shabby either.
