Hey all,
I've been browsing games for christmas and am wondering from your experience which are the best to go for out of the following.

Just for some background I have recently bought The Witcher, Gears of War, ET:QW and Orange Box. I've mentioned before that im in need of something less FPS'y but of course don't want to miss out on a good game just because of that.

These are the main ones i've been looking at but if you think there is one not on there which you would really reccommend then please do:

  • Overlord (like dungeon keeper 3)
  • COD:4
  • Crysis
  • Hellgate: London
  • Supreme Commander
  • Assasins Creed (not out yet)
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

If you could choose 3 of those games, which would you go for and why?

Thanks all in advance. :)

I've only played Crysis and COD4 from your list but of those two I'd only recommend COD4. It's a bit short but it kept me entertained from start to finish.

The first half of Crysis was very good but the second half was a massive disappointment. Ended up hoping it would end sooner rather than later because I got bored of the uninspiring level designs and stupid amount of bugs.

vote for sup com since all we have is fPS people so far :D i loved Stalker as well, and CoD4 , good MP and a classic SP if a bit short. :)

overlord is fun but nothing like Dungeon keeper im afraid.

i've have COD:4, Crysis and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. from that list and i would reccomend all 3, they are class, cod4 for it's just fun pick up and play multiplayer, crysis well...because it's very cool and stalker cause it has a really different story and is actually quite long compared to games these days.

have you played the overlord demo? played it, was quite fun like, supreme commander was good (only played the demo) but i think rts games bore me a little after a wee while.

Stalker - Of the 3, I love this game the most :) It has a certain charm to it that I don't feel most games have. Yes, its problems are vast and well documented but lets face it, if were going to get up in arms every time a game crashes we might as well plan the riots now. Get past the crashes and Stalkers great fun :D

Crysis - I have voiced my negative opinions regarding this game several times, but that does not mean I would not recommend it. Visually stunning and some elements of the gameplay are very nice indeed.

CoD4 - I don't feel its as good as everyone says it is, it feels far too much like CoD2 still. It is however still a good game and the multiplayer can be very fun.

Overlord : As others have said, a good laugh, but you will get bored of it quickly (At least I did

COD:4 : Epic Single Player although very short, but the Multiplayer more than makes up for it

Crysis : Very good Single player, i would rate it slightly lower than CoD4, but not much, however, the fact that it uses GameSpy for Multiplayer really put me off that.

Hellgate: London : Not purchased, heard mixed feelings about it.

Supreme Commander : I love this game (Although i would have to recommend the Stand Alone Expansion, Forged Alliance, to go along with it, they fixed a lot of stuff in FA.)

Assasins Creed (not out yet) : Heard it is VERY repetitive, so am not holding out too much hope for it.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. : I am probably going to be crucified for this, but I thought the single player was TOO long haha, who would have thought. Aside from that a very good game.

So from me it would be 1: CoD4, 2: Crysis, 3: Supreme Commander w/ Forged Alliance
