Hey all,

Recently I have been experiencing a lot of crash to desktop in games, the main two games I've been playing recently have been AC:Valhalla and GTA:Online - both games are giving me very frequent crashing to desktop, no errors just one second I'm playing the game, the next I'm looking at my desktop (the only other game I've played recently was For The King, got just over 7 hour play through on saturday with no crashes at all, but the CTD is random and I can play some times for 30 mins then crash or get a few hours before the crash so I'd lean towards this being a bout of good luck)

My pc is Listen in my sig for reference, I did see recently some-one experiencing a similar issue on the forum with the solution that seemed to work being disabling nvidia overlay and disabling experimental features, unfortunately I already have these disabled

I have a dual monitor setup. Screen 1 is for the game while screen 2 generally has monitoring info - aquasuite/msi after burner/hw info, if gaming with friends add teamspeak to the list, occasionally chrome will be open playing a youtube video

I have tried first dropping then completely removing the OC from cpu/gpu, enabling v-sync in games instead of having it off/free-sync enabled, uninstalling and reinstalling nvidia driver, verifying the integrity of the game files, removing my sound card (this has only started to happen in the last 2ish weeks, with the only change made being the re-addition of my old sound card - something I'd originally left out with my new build)

checking reliability history will show a critial event - eg GTA stopped working, event viewer shows the same - application error
Exception Code: (0x)c0000005
Exception Offset: 0000000003e613f3

Any help is much appreciated

Obvious question, but have you tried a full reinstall of GTA/Valhalla? You mentioned adding a sound card and then removing, have you also removed the driver to make sure there's no conflicts there?

GTA Online has had a 'bug' since the last update (or was it the one before, it's pretty recent - not todays) which is causing the crash to desktop, it's pretty common if you read reddit etc (I've had it and my setup is stable/consistent). Obviously with GTA:O it's entirely possible it's modders/cheaters (not going to call them hackers as they're just using a program) too because I'm sure you know how much power they have over the game (there seems to be a ip tool that auto crashes players if they see your ip).

How long this is going to take to get fixed, if ever, is anyones guess, it's not like rockstar are known for the speedy fixes unless it's losing them money from shark cards.

As to AC:V no idea.

Havnt replied because I changed something that looked like it solved my issue

Long story short : I originally had pbo enabled in motherboard via asus tab which has the dynamic switcher, after the tear-down for some watercooling maintenance I had enabled PBO (2?) From the amd overclocking section - to have a mess about with curve optimization, which didn't seem to net me much of a difference from what I seen, I thought I had disabled PBO but turns out I hadn't- it was still enabled in the amd overclocking menu - I had 0 changes to the cores but I had set the limits to "motherboard"

I have had 2 game crashes since then - valhalla once and gta online once, the valhalla one was different to the crash I got before, this time the game froze and crashed with uplay bringing up a box saying the game had crashed and would I like to send a report - whereas before the game would just close as if some-one pressed the x button on the program, I was able to finish the game - id a good 30 hours left and only thag 1 crash

Pretty much the same with gta online I had one crash and have been jumping on every now and then for a few hours (less than ac:valhalla) so I think the 2 crashes I had are game/bug related vs my previous close to desktop crashes which happened a lot more frequently and appeared differently when then happened

(Both valhalla and gta seem to have an issue atm with crahsing, valhalla even had an update/driver update to help with the random crashing that could occur with extended play time- doesn't seem to have fixed it for everyone, and as was replied here gta online also has an issue with crashing)

No other game has crashed sine I turned PBO off, so I am happy that I have fixed the issue - however now I am focused towards finding out why PBO seems to crash games
