Games exiting to desktop problem

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help here.

Recently my games have been exiting to desktop with no error messages, event viewer shows nothing, and I can restart the game instantly.

It happens randomly, and the duration is different on each game. e.g. on trackmania nations, it quits maybe once an hour. On Rainbowsix Vegas 2, it quits rarely, maybe once a day. On spore it quits every hour.

It only happens when I'm at a loading part of the game, e.g. loading a new map. Not in direct gameplay.

Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing it? I'm really at a loss, and have no clues. I know its not overheating because I monitor my temps leading up to a crash and they're all fine. 35c cpu, 65c gpu.

Thanks

I had a similar problem once, and it was related to the sound card driver - but it manifested itself slightly differently, in that it only crashed when there was a loud sound in game. Hence I'm not convinced you have the same problem. Worth trying to get the latest drivers for all components regardless as it could be a chipset issue given that it happens during loading.

try turning the clock on your gpu down a little see if that helps, if youve got anything overclocked put it back to stock. Sometimes they degrade over time.

I have the same problem on some of the latest games running them at minimum.

I have a pent 4 3.0 ghz
128 MB nvidea card
1gb of ram
Soundblaster live player.

As you can see my PC is out of date in in process of saving to get a new one.

Can anyone point me in right direction to upgrade sound card drivers?? All i seem to find on Creative site is the full package with all the fancy add ons which i dnt want.

cheers

Not sure but couldn't you download that software and choose what you want to install?

If you don't get that option then just cancel the install.
