games for cheap laptop

Anyone got any games to reccomend that you can play on cheap laptops? My dad is getting a new one so for when i go round there and stay it would be nice to play a few games, i am going to buy FM2008 (or 2007) as that should work, but maybe some old classics like morrowind etc.

I think were going to buy it tommorow, with specs most probably being about 1gb of ram, a cheap c2d cpu or possibly a crappy celeron, and integrated graphics most likely, maybe if he stretched the budget a bit it might be something a little bit more decent but still nothing more than ati mobilty x1200 or whatever.

So FM2008 should be fine, Morrowind? Red Alert 2? CS 1.6?

Source games, UT2004 and Battlefield Vietnam work fine at 800x600 on the Xpress 1100 I'm using...at a stretch, Company of Heroes (but I had to turn some options to low). A dedicated card (if you can get one) would be much better. Make sure memory is running dual channel to get the best performance from integrated graphics.

eh? Source games running on integrated graphics? I suppose it depends on the res. Wont it look crap when its not at native res? i think all the ones in our price range are 1200x800.

So will morrowind work?

Depends how well the TFT adapts the resolution. Morrowind should be fine.

Come on guys it's an X1200, it'll run everything 2005 and pre 2005, just turn down gfx settings and resolution, even new games like CoH should work fine aslong as settings are kept low.

chances are its going to be a x1300 from intel lol, As long as i can play older games im fine with it.

GMA X3100? Well the drivers suck. Better hope Intel improve them, or those 8 shader units will be wasted...

yep ive heard that. The game i really wanna play on it though is morrowind as ive never had a chance to really play that.

That will work, but for whatever reason half the more recent games don't. Oh, the 965GM version is clocked 100mhz higher than the 960, by the way
