Right-o, my gaming rig is currently undergoing some construction work and will be out of commission for 2-3 weeks....therefore Im left with the linux box and no idea of what to make time fly by with. Can any one please advise me on what games can be pld in linux?

The Quake series, the Unreal Series, most Valve games (thru wine)

Sam as for Mac, most OpenGL games will work.

Personally, I've played Q3 and HL2 under Linux

*edit* oh, and Soldat under wine :)

good native games:

Quake
Quake2
Quake3

Unreal
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 2003
Unreal Tournament 2004

Darwinia
Uplink

Neverwinter Nights

Also some newer games (which I don't really like) - Quake4, Doom3 & Unreal Tournament 3.

might as well post my question here as that might help other ppl

Is there a way to choose which partition to instal games on? I got 8gb partition for my ubuntu 8.04 (64bit) as i was planning to use it as picutre exchange server from time to time with rest of my family that lives abroad. Anyway i wanted to instal LOTRO but thats like 9.5gb and it wouldnt let me choose any other partition during instalation.
Is there any other way then increase size of linux partition?
Cheers.

Can you not mount another hard drive to a folder within your home directory, or even the default install directory?

Will have to try and find uplink for linux....just seems somehow fitting :)

If game developers used OpenGL more, rather than DirectX, would the games

a) Still look as good (no idea how good OpenGL is)

b) Be more easily ported to Mac and Linux?
