i know i can run max payne and probably unreal 2 but i was wondering what other games i could play? needing some old style ideas of classic gaming a'la 2-3 years ago.

that spec is a high spec for quake 3 :), i still play that a lot now

max payne 2 :p

half life 1 if you've never played it, top game

c&c red alert 2 : yuri's revenge

unreal tournament 2004

tony hawk's 2 + 3 (dont get 4 for pc its buggy as hell)

if you can afford it, a ram upgrade (say to 1gb) would do a world of good, and something like an 9800pro (ati card)

Deus Ex! Without a doubt the best game you can get that will run at higher settings on your system. Maybe not max, but definately settings that will look and play good.

If you're into RPGs they're flogging off bundles of Bioware's old Infinity Engine (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and their sequels/expansions) games at stupidly cheap prices in a desperate attempt to reduce Interplay's massive debts:p Morrowind will also run just about decently on it.

You might also like Severance: Blade of Darkness, if you're into hack'n'slash games.

Outcast is also supposedly good but I haven't played it yet.

FPS-wise, Battlefield 1942, Quake 3, and, as was mentioned, the sublime Deus Ex.

If you have a passing interest in RPG's get those as manveruppd said. It'll keep you enthralled for a few months.

Soldier of Fortune 2, Commandos 1,2,3. Call of Duty, Medal of Honour Series except the last 1. Need for Speed: Underground.

Will Chronicles of Riddick run on that?
Slowly...

It's pretty intensive but looks wonderful. As previous people have said, adding some RAM and upgrading to something like a 7600GT would do wonders for the machine.

As for games, Half Life 2 runs pretty well on older machines.

Ghost recon and its expansion packs , great game and probably pick it up for buttons now

or how about Champ Manager/Football manager ? if your into that type of game

Defo get 'Day of Sex' aka Deus Ex, best ever fps :)

Baldur's Gate is particularly good if you own Baldur's Gate 2 as you can use a mod called Tutu and play BG using the improved BG2 engine. I'm replaying it at the moment doing that and it's superb.

Vampire: Bloodlines :)

Hmm, I really dont think it would run well at all. The game uses HL2 engine, and basically even on 1GB of ram and a X800 or something it runs pretty bad. (not to mention I really dislike the game :/).

min spec:

64mb 9.0cDirectX 3D GFX card.
1.2GHz Althon or P3
384MB Ram (512MB Rec)

His spec is better than the g/fs PC and that runs it ok.
