Games for Windows Live problem!

My girlfriend bought me Batman: Arkham City for Christmas in the Steam sale.

Having got back from a week away home, I try to play it. When I sign into Games for Windows live, I can sign in, but when I enter my product key, I am unable to connect to Live. I get the error "Unable to connect to Live, Error code: 80070003"

If I try and make an offline profile, clicking on the link to create one doesn't work.

Now, I made an offline account over the summer for GFWL, and it worked fine (playing Batman Arkham Asylum). Not really sure as to why it won't let me do it now.

Anyone got any ideas on how I can fix this? PC hasn't been reinstalled, and I have reinstalled GFWL but it's still causing problems. Google hasn't been much help either sadly.

Will give it a try thanks :)

Edit: That hasn't fixed anything. It's an error when I put in my product key, not a problem with an update.

Also, still doesn't solve the issue of not being able to create an offline profile sadly. Stupid ****** GFWL!

This is actually ******* ridiculous. Paid for a game, and I bet people who pirated it have zero issues.

And it also doesn't explain why I'm unable to create an offline profile. Really quite pathetic. Anyone got any ideas as to why it won't let me create an local profile? I really don't want to have to reinstall my entire PC again :(

Did you install Windows Live using the Steam installation of the game or did you do it separately ? I had a similar problem with DoW II and ended up reinstalling GfWL from the SteamApp folder and rejecting the provided update.

Well, I decided to reinstall Windows. There were some old files kicking about, so decided a clean install was better. Local profile seems to be working now :)
