Hey Guys,

I'm having a little bit of trouble, when I launch any games that have the "LIVE" logo on the box my account signs in but is at the "Offline" status straight away, when I click to "Connect to Live" it starts to login and then I get an error message saying:

"Your account has been suspended due to a problem with your payment option. Please use a different payment option or update your current information in account management"

"Update Profile" "Cancel"

So I select to Update my profile and the game minimizes and a browser window is opened saying:

"Update Account

There is a problem with your payment option. Please update your payment information to continue your Xbox LIVE membership.

You have two options to update your Xbox LIVE membership: edit an existing payment method or add a new one."

Firstly why is it calling my "Windows LIVE" account an "Xbox LIVE" one and secondly why do I have to pay for an Xbox LIVE account when I don't own an Xbox I own a PC, could this problem be related to that the account that I use for Windows LIVE is my old Xbox LIVE account from when I had and Xbox earlier last year and if so how do I resolve this issue as at present I cant play any of my "Games for Windows" on there "LIVE" service and its killing me knowing I'm missing out on the DoW II Beta,

Hoping someone can help
M,

Have you used Xbox live in the past ?
I'd raise a support ticket though as windows live is (supposed to be) free...

Yes I had an Xbox live account back last year when I had an Xbox 360 but I sold it in August and my live account had 4 months subscription remaining,

Have you got an expired credit card or something on there ?

Try going here and seing if theres anything dodgy -

https://billing.microsoft.com/

Yes, the original card that I paid for my Gold Membership has been replaced by a new one, but i don't want to update my details as they will bill me for another 12 month gold Xbox live membership and I no longer have my Xbox,

might be worth posting your problem in the tech support section of the official GFWL forums, http://forums.gamesforwindows.com/

There are a few staff members from the GFWL team posting on there, they would probably be the best people to ask.

That might be my best course of action to try and get things sorted,

Thanks for the advice guys, if i get everything sorted and any of you fancie a game on DoW II Beta my LIVE tag is Rookie1986 :D

M,

Just create a new gamertag for your PC. Obviously you will not get any gamerscore carried over from your 360 one but it will then work fine as no need to put any billing info in.

Aha, I believe we've uncovered the problem.

Since you had a 360 with a Gold account and a credit card attached, it came up for renewal, but since you had a new card your card issuer declined the transaction. As a "security measure" Microsoft takes it upon themselves to ban your account till you phone them up and explain the situation.

I would just create a new tag but my only Xbox one has around 3k MS-Points on it and it would be a waste to just let them go,

Are you sure thats rights as I've had the account expire due to the credit card attatched no longer been active when it was up for renewal and all I did was use a new card when I wanted to play on LIVE again,

I guess I need to wait for a responce on the MS website,
